Does anyone engage in art therapy?

Re: Expressing yourself in art therapy

I’ve just started a watercolours group at a local community centre and it’s got me thinking about art therapy too.

Hi @Former-Member,

Re: Expressing yourself in art therapy

Hi @Chamomile

Thank you for the link. I actually cannot remember posting about this.

I have done art therapy on and off during stays in hospital and have now decided, during my recent admission, to continue ‘art therapy’ at home. I do pretty art and art therapy. Pretty art is for giving away or hanging up the wall, for mindfulness, art therapy is for my art folder, like a visual diary, to share when and who I want with. To take to my therapist. To talk about. I start drawing without aim and my pictures develop or I have urges to draw something. It helps me.

I was just wondering if other people found it helpful to express themselves in this way.
