Poem about everything and nothing.
Welllllllll
I have been tapping away on here for about an hour and it all felt like poo so I deleted it and wrote this instead.
Forever and ever the tick of the tock
The ducking forever life’s questioning knock
And the here and the now, the there, then and that
Forever finding my face in a splat.
“I tried’ I say, with sometimes a lie
Fooling myself with conglomerate pie
But with gravy….. and peas, and fresh-froze timed carrots
So I do….. try…..
Sometimes.
I drink and I smoke and I cling to the edge
Of lemon sherbet happy and cobweb causing wedge
Which renders me stupid and lonely and useless
Forever idea making piranha me toothless.
So I sip, and I laugh and lift the hand
Inhaling indifferent corkscrew deep sand
That falls between fingers to gravities cry
and under the surface is an shadow born dye.
But, I have pie.
I have a wonderful annoying as duckedy duck brilliance
That sits words spilling - missing the shatter glue difference
And another with nose melting drip to the phone
For the synoptic wave catch, the itching marrows home.
So I turn, and I say to myself
Which pattern of me shall I take of the shelf?
For life holds the strings and I fight for a pluck
At one of those feathered and tangled stringed ducks
That is me.
Which mask? Which broken crown?
Which upside-down worrisome frown?
Shall I be?
Which will crawl out?
Please the jester with crowd pleasing clout…
So I circle myself as a crow cutting white
Knowing the sanctitude of light left on night
Beckoning stone stillness I lie and I wait
For the breakfast, the dressing, the constant ‘of late’.
And I think “What is this shit?” and “What am I doing?”
Then tighten the top so it all keeps a-brewing
But….
I have pie.
I have friends, I have lovers, I have those with the uppers
I have Netfix and T-Bags and tampons and socks
And, forget not,
I have pie.

Hi @Whim,
Thank you for sharing your poem! Its very clever, and even though its about dark times, it made me laugh.

Hey @Whim
Leave it here - that is one fine piece - it's quirky and interesting - it rocks - and has genuine rhythm - and better than that - the question I was asked studying literature was "How does poetry affect you?" - wow - this one mmmm - I can feel an intelligent mind among tangled memories - it might be my mind or your mind - we all interpret things differently
I really like it

Re: Poem about everything and nothing.
Thanks mate! Was sooooo awfully embarrassed by it! Especially the last verse/lines. Where I clearly lost interest and inspiration! Hope you are good. x

Re: Poem about everything and nothing.
I read it again - I really do like it @Whim
But it does finish well - you have a theme - the bottom line is
You have pie - whatever that means to you
Maybe it's dinner - maybe it's yous pizzazz
I would love to read more of your poetry
