Re: Help with ADHD

Hi @sunnydays

It's nice to "see" you again. I'm sorry to read that things aren't going great at the moment.

I recall last time you visited you asked about BPD and were talking about seeing a clinical psychologist. How did that go?

Just letting you know, we aren't able to discuss specific medications here, but some might be able to assist with some advice.

Take care,

Nik

Re: Help with ADHD

I make a lot of mistakes ... today I was panicking about where I put some bread wraps for dinner ... my visitor found them ... I have learned to be light-hearted about it ... I often say the wrong word .... and have difficulty with recall ... I try and reduce pressure and rest when it gets very bad ...

what particular things are bothering you @sunnydays

Re: Help with ADHD

Yep Im aware we cant talk about medication. Im looking for natural methods thats why I mentioned that Im not taking anything medicinally. I went and saw a clinical psychologist who specialises in BPD and he wasnt convinced that I had it although the time I spent with him was really beneficial 😊

Re: Help with ADHD

Appleblossom that sounds all too familiar lol. Most of the time like u I just deal with it but I feel like Im getting worse and its affecting my work which is not ok. I have always got dates and times mixed up and often show up at things on the wrong day or time and doing shift work its really hard for me to keep track. I have done this with work and its really frustrating and embarrassing and also takes up time. The thing is that I write things down so I remember and I constantly check to make sure I get it right but I somehow stil get it wrong because I just cant seem to retain any information for very long. Im also making stupid mistakes at work because I dont pay attention properly. I look like a total dumb*ss. My attention is my number 1 problem I dont know what to do 😕

Re: Help with ADHD

There are studies that show Fish oil can be generally helpful.  Maybe you could see a naturopath ... if thats possible.

I am not familiar with ADHD  does anybody else on the forums have ideas?

Re: Help with ADHD

How is your shiftwork posted? Do you have a smartphone? Would it help if you took a photo of your roster? Putting stuff into her phone straight away helps one of my friends who has ADHD, and I swear she has an alarm for everything. What kinds of mistakes are you making at work? I know I'm asking a heap of questions, but while a lot of strategies are very broad, a lot as well are very specific. Another friend of mine does shift work, and it really messes with her sense of time, although she doesn't have ADHD. If you can get a good night's sleep, cook up a big pot of food to freeze for easy dinners, generally look after yourself, then it will make it easier when you are at work.

Re: Help with ADHD

Hi there :]

Let me start off by saying that I know EXACTLY how you feel. I was diagnosed with ADHD January just gone (I'm 22). During my initial consultation with the psychiatrist, she took one look at me, and after talking for five minutes, said "Well I can tell you now that you definitely got it. Really bad. I just need to keep asking you questions before I can legally write out a script for *insert medicine here*". Naturally, it all came as a bit of a surprise to me, as I've been diagnosed with pretty much everything under the sun, but ADHD was the last thing I would believe I had.

Since then, life has been so much easier, but just be aware that every chemical has its side effects. Just be sure to speak to a doctor and/or a pharmacist before you decide to try anything - even if they're just vitamins.

Hope you are able to find some help soon :] ADHD isn't the worst thing in the world to have, but anything can feel horrible when you feel like you can't talk to someone about it

Re: Help with ADHD

Omg I was going to post a thread on this @Sunny day's because yes that's me. I feel so silly but I'm wondering if I'm actually adhd. I never sit still. And my son as some will know his recent diagnosis but presented with adhd traits. I'd like a second opinion on this, but I know he & I are very alike. A friend has it I'm sure, undiagnosed, my partner & I laughing about it but it's like when your around someone else with impaired memory, forgetfulness, it feels normal. I hated school, & desperately tried to get mum to let me leave since starting high school. I eventually changed schools. How does one go about diagnosis on it? Maybe I'm just far too creative or something and I wander off. I'm feeling a bit over energized, so putting it out there. I feel I end up hating my words as I love writing, but never feel like I'm clear! 😏😂
