Re: Taking the plunge

Hi @CheerBear saw you under the support button. Thankyou.

Ive just been over on the craft thread. Some lovely things being created.

Hope you are okish, though that being said with tongue in cheek, especially this time of year.

Hooe LF are ok too. 💕💕💕💜💜💜💜💜🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

Re: Taking the plunge

@Maggie it's always lovely to hear from you or see you under the support button ❤

Thank you. I am working on my little project at the moment and hoping to have her finished in the next couple of hours. She's been fun to play with 🙂

I'm going pretty OK at the moment thanks. More of school holidays might test that though 😉 Littler ones are doing really well and enjoying down time to play with new things they've collected over the last weeks. Two are huge on making slime currently and have more glue, glitter, sparkles, tiny balls, beads etc than they could have hoped for which is keeping them entertained for hours (and making massive mess of our dining room)! One is next to me with a hook and some yarn in their hands too 😊

Reading along and really sorry to hear of the challenges you're facing. Sending you gentle but huge 💗, hoping there are moments of comfort in there sometimes.

Re: Taking the plunge

@CheerBear Really good to hear you and LF are doing ok.

The doll is georgeous, hope we can see her finished.

Slime sounds yucky. The two kids here had something that they could roll into a ball and shred. I was ok til one of them spread it all over her face and snotted into it. That was me done. Kids can be lovely and disgusting both at the same time.

Yes, challenges ahead for me again, but I will get there, one small painful step at a time. Hoping this is more permanent, but not holding my breath either. Lots of these for you also 💜💜 hoping the holidays continue peacefully.

Re: Taking the plunge

Good afternoon my good friend @Maggie, and hello to others here too @Zoe7 @CheerBear @Appleblossom @outlander, always a pleasure seeing any or all of you around.  Its somehow reassuring, dont you think, to know there are people around us here who care?

You are so right Maggie, the cost of health care is hard on the hip pocket.  Tough decisions such as determining whether we need glasses in order to see, or a roof over our head, should never have to be made.  But for some, that is an example of what needs to be mulled over at times.  I am lucky, in that as of late last year I now have a health care card.  Which helps a lot when it comes to GP visits.  Where as I was having to pay something like $85 up front to see my GP (and get about $30 back from medicare), now I am being bulk billed. And medicines at $6.10 instead of $30-$40 each time, is great, and makes a big difference.  But it doesnt help when it comes to other subsiduary costs such as dental and optical.

How was your lunch yesterday, the one you felt obliged to front up to after having missed a number of them?  I read on the dog thread that your little Maggie-May has lost quite a bit of weight.  4.3kg down to 3.6kg may not sound much, but its quite a big percentage for such a little pooch. Sounds like she is thriving as a result.

Okay, so I am just quickly passing through and letting you know I continue to think of you. Still very hot here.

It is lovely to have caring people around us @Former-Member and to be able to support each other as well. Heart

I hope you are having a better day today @Maggie and that your lunch yesterday went okay. A lot of things happening here for me but taking them one step at a time and letting them play out as they may - that is all I can do really. Heart

Thinking of you both and loving seeing you connect on here a little more - it is heatwarming having you both around whether posting or under the support button Smiley Very Happy

Re: Taking the plunge

@Former-Member@Zoe7 Hummm, I got through lunch, should say I struggled through. Today a lady asked if I still lived here !!!!!! I might have missed a bit of time, I'm good at doing that. Anyway, I had a dr app yesterday trying to find some relief from pain. Seeing a specialist soon I hope. Bone tests next week, so it's medical stuff.

Yes @Former-Member bulk billing and low cost meds certainly do help.

@Zoe7 Not sure of your challenges, still out of data, and here in the community room people like to talk. Which is what it's for after all, only it makes online communicating difficult. I'm hiding in a corner atm!!!!!!.

Looks like Hobart is melting today. I've never seen it that high before. We are headed for 33 another first in the 30 years I've been here.

@Former-Member I'm jumping all over the place sorry, my back,is aching, but I want to get this posted. Mags is doing really well. I gave her a hair cut about a month ago. Cute!!!!

I will catch up on your threads..Glasses next week yeeeeeeessssss. The blind will see again. Lots of these for you both 💕💜💕💜💕💜💕💜💕🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

Re: Taking the plunge

I am doing okay @Maggie My biggest challenge at the moment is motivation but I have done a lot the last couple of days - washing, washing up, cleaning up, beach with Toby and shopping. The biggest thing I have to tackle is the garage but I have made a start. Last time I tried to clean up the garage I fell and hurt my back so being very careful out there.

Yes is hot down this way but hotter up the Derwent Valley where there is a pretty big bushfire burning. Know they hit 38 a couple of hours ago but haven't had an update since then. The smoke is making it's way over the city but the temp seems to have dropped significantly already in the city.

Re: Taking the plunge

Hi dear @Maggie.  So good to hear from you again.    Glad you got through the lunch, even if a struggle.

Really sorry you are experiencing a lot of pain, but pleasing you've been referred to a  specialist.  Hope the bone tests come back okay.  Is this pain to do with the rheumatoid arthritis (RA) we spoke of last week? I know my Mum suffers awfully from RA - all her fingers and other joints are so knotted up, twisted and sore looking. She has awful trouble holding things such as cups cutlery etc.  Every day is a battle for her in that regard. And because of some vital medications she is on for other things, there is not a lot she can take to relieve the RA.  Really hope, whatever the issue is for you, that there is a simple and effective relief solution.  Its horrible being in constant pain.

I hear elsewhere Maggie (Zoe) that the temperature down in Tassie has now dropped considerably.  Looks like we will finally get the cool change up here late tomorrow.  Cannot come soon enough as far as I'm concerned. As long as we dont get another wind storm to take out our electricity poles and wires again!

Oh gorgeous little Mags ... a summer hair cut!  How sweet.  I gave Holly another bath in the laundry tub yesterday, just to cool her off a bit. She is like me, she feels the heat.  I also bathed her favourite soft squeaky toy ... Moo ... her yellow cow.  She was none too happy about that I might add.  And she was really upset when I took Mooey out to hang him on the line to dry.  But Moo needed a good wash, he had dried slobber all around his ears and chest.  Moo is now clean soft and sweet smelling again.  I thought Holly may not like it after the bath, but she likes him just as much as ever.  Even likes the new softness I think.  So I am in Hollys good books as of yesterday.  Not because she got a bath and nail trim, but because Moo got a bath!  Funny little girl she is.

Oh Maggie thats fantastic news about some new glasses!  Werent your last pair 2 different colours, or am I mistaken in that?  Perhaps you can do the same again with the new ones?  Something unique and special ... just like you.

Thanks for the love hearts and the puppy paws.  I've had a day trying to distract myself, and your message helped.

Re: Taking the plunge

I'm glad you are enjoying the read @Maggie. I found it interesting. If anything it sucked that I have to be holistic about my care. I dunno about you but a quick fix would be pretty awesome.

I think the author himself pointed out the weakness of the inflammation hypothesis towards the end of the book. Can't remember what the exact words were, but something along the lines of it being very difficult because with a messed up society like ours, chronic inflammation becomes circular.

My shrink is a little less flattering of Biological Psychiatry. Reckons the gap between the people researching in the labs, and the docs on the ground who see how long it takes to translate and implement, is so enormous, that to think that we will have alternative treatments in our lifetime is a fanciful dream by arrogant academics with massive egos who want to win the Nobel Prize for themselves.

I must admit, I am sceptical  a cure could get through the politics. And one thing I am very against is giving patients false hope. They don't understand the tenuous rope we walk somedays with our mental illnes, and the depths of utter sepair we feel.

But in light of the Inflamed Mind, I am gonna give fasting a go this year. My sis said that unbeknownst to me I have already been doing the 16:8 for about 4 years trying to sort out my dodgy tummy. I tried to do a 72 hour water fast and only made it to 48, and sis reckons that's why I couldn't, cos I was already fasting and I had no idea I was. I was just trying to go to bed with no stomach cramps so I could maximise my chance that I may actually fall sleep.

Hey @Former-Member, I haven't read your thread I think it would be too triggering for me. But just wanted you to know you are in my thoughts. I have never forgotten you, and I see your name pop up, and I think......kindred spirit!

Take care guys, and sorry if I posted in the wrong place, I'm a bit of a duffer like that
