hi everyone my middle son who many of you know so well told me something today on his visit. he said that he had been hearing voices who were telling him to do things to the people at his supported living. in the same breath he said that he wouldnt do anything because he wanted a gun licence. he is perhaps the most disturbed person that i have ever known.

@Bunniekins I'm wondering whether he has a diagnosis of schizophrenia (paranoid traits?) and there is currently an exacerbation in symptoms for him?
Apologies, I haven't seen any of your previous posts so perhaps you've already spoken about the background of this. If you are concerned, and it seems like this is a change to his baseline/usual way of behaving, you could always call 000 or ask for further advice from emergency triage in order to keep him and others safe.
It is not uncommon for people with paranoid schizophrenia to experience command hallucinations, but everyone is different so you would know him best and whether this is a different presentation to most other times you have seen him.

@balance37 hi balance37 yes he has autism, schizophrenia, epilepsy and a mild intellectual delay. he dumps this on me often but i do worry. unfortunately the local mental health centre is not autism friendly we really neeed a autism specirfic centre on the coast. he is on multiple mendications. i have been ontto his psychologist who is wonderful. i have to be careful as he wants the guns to protect me he is worried about me.
thank you for your reply i really appreciate.

That sounds really frustrating re: not having an autism friendly service.
It also sounds like you are going through a lot.
Thanks for sharing with us. Not sure I can help in any way, but I'm happy to chat if you need.
Do ypou have any support in place for yourself, such as a carer peer group?

@balance37 oh balance37 *trigger warning* i dont even know where to begin. my son got diagnosed with autism at 2 1/2 he was diagnosed with early childhood sschizophrenia around 5 it is a blurr because around the same time he got diagnosed with epilepsy. his sschizophrenia seemed to realoly get out of control when he was 16 then it was hell on earth. for about 5 years and it has calmed down believe it or not. i have my other children and my mum who are a great support but still when this happens i worry about him. my eldest says one day he will put my *trigger warning* **** in a pot!

Oh @Bunniekins !
This must be so hard to deal with, especially as a mother (something I obviously know nothing about!)
I guess you know him/the situation better than any of us...I just hope you are all safe, at the very least.
Your last sentence in the first post scares me, to be honest

@StuF it scares my eldest son he is relieved that my middle son no longer "lives" with us but i have to say that when this happens i have visions of me hurting myself the stress is so great. i feel for my other two children as they have been so negetively affected by this and what it has done to my little family is horrific. it is not his fault either he was born that way it is organic with him from birth he never took drugs or drank he was born that way it is so sad for him and his siblings just sad.
